Alicia Keys was among musician who took the center stage to perform during the celebration of life for Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant. The service was held at Staples Centre, Loa Angeles, and Alicia gave an outstanding performance on the piano, adding that the song held a special meaning to the late NBA player Kobe and his wife Vanessa Bryant.
She performed the Beethoven’s, moonlight sonata, a song that Bryant learned to play just to show his wife how much he loved her twenty years ago. Apparently, Kobe had a hidden talent that one of his teammates just recently talked about; playing the piano.
Kobe and Gianna died in January, just a few hours just before the 62nd annual grammy awards that were to be conducted at staples center ‘a place famously known to be built by Kobe’.
Alicia keys hosted the event and began her performance with a few words honoring the NBA legend.
On her Instagram page, she wrote
Celebrating Kobe and Gigi @VanessaBryant – When you told me how the Moonlight Sonata is such a beautiful part of your love story because Kobe vowed to learn it to show how deep his love is for you …. I was speechless. I’m so honored to celebrate your deep connection to each other today. I felt the depth of your love for each other and your girls with every note I played today. Love is the most powerful force. The love between you lights up the world.
Alicia said that Kobe always brought energy, and with it, they pushed through the whole ceremony.
